Sightseeing

Kyoto is the old capital and emperor’s residence from 794 until 1868.
Countless temples and shrines, other historical structures includes 17 world heritage sites are still exist in this rich city. Breathtaking nature beauty in each seasons with amazing architectures are voted as the best city in the world.

Experience

Wearing beautiful traditional costume Kimono is recommended. Taking a walk in narrow streets makes you feel like back in ancient times. There are so many culture experiences awaiting you, such as tea ceremony, calligraphy, Maiko makeover, Japanese cooking class, sweets making, Samurai and Ninja experience.

Festivals

Here in Kyoto, festivals and events are happening all over the year. The biggest three festivals Aoi matsuri in May, Gion matsuri in July, Jidai matsuri in October are the most interesting and traditional ones. In Spring, you can see a special dance show at each Maiko flower town.
The beauty of Maiko culture is attracting people from all over the world.

Gourmet

Famous cuisine here is called “Kaiseki”. It’s a traditional course lunch or dinner. Having Kaiseki, it’s like enjoying art. It served with good balance of tastes, appearance, variety of colorful potions. Kawayuka, traditional outside wood decks overlooking along the Kamo river, became the typical and elegance style to spend summer.

Shopping

There are many traditional and modern type of shopping streets in Kyoto. Nishiki market is famous for food. About 130 shops are inside of arcade street. You can have a good understanding of the food culture there. There are lots of souvenir shops at Sanjo, Tera-machi, Shingyogoku street. Monthly antique market is held in Toji temple and free market in Kitano-Tenmangu shrine.
